HGR Mews Community Centre

The new H.G.R. Mews Community Centre at 60 Blackler Ave opened on September 15. This 60,000-square-foot facility houses City recreation staff, the BGC of St. John's, and the REAL Program.

Key Amenities

- Pool Area: Located on the second floor, it features a 25-metre lap pool with a rock climbing wall, a leisure pool with water features, a steam room, and viewing areas.
- Sports & Fitness: Includes a full-size hardwood gymnasium, a 100-metre indoor walking track, and two convertible courts for squash, handball, or racquetball.
- Rentals: Multi-purpose rooms with a shared kitchen are available for events.

Accessibility The centre is designed to be fully inclusive. Features include:

- Accessible parking and specific bus access (Route 12).
- Elevators, ramped pool entry, and water wheelchairs.
- Gender-neutral washrooms and adult-size change tables.
- A Canadian Tire Jumpstart Inclusive Playground and accessible community garden outside.
