The Lantern Festival is a public project. Victoria Park is the canvas for the festival, and the festival highlights the historical and natural features of the park, including the annual daylighting of buried Bennett's Brook with a river of glass jar lanterns. The sheer number of people who attend the festival and enjoy this vital urban space for the afternoon and after dusk is astounding.

MusicNL exists to address key issues affecting the Newfoundland & Labrador music industry in order to implement positive change by presenting a strong voice to government, business and the community at large. To increase awareness locally, nationally and internationally of provincially produced music as an art form and as a viable industry with significant impact on the economy. To create and encourage opportunities which will stimulate growth of the industry. Marguerite's Place, Inc. is a nonprofit transitional housing and supportive services program for homeless women in crisis and their children.

The Victoria Park Lantern Festival is a spectacular, all-ages celebration of community in St. John’s historic West End. A participatory and volunteer-driven event, our annual Festival takes place on the Saturday of the last full weekend in July.

We are a volunteer group of parents, friends and families committed to raising awareness and understanding of Down syndrome, and to removing societal barriers that place limits on our children’s ability to be valued and contributing members of our community.

Special Olympics is composed of passionate, committed individuals from every walk of life, who recognise the value and unique gifts of people with intellectual disabilities. And, who together, share the common belief of dignity, equality and opportunity for all people. Special Olympics Newfoundland and Labrador is a non-profit organization serving individuals with an intellectual disability, with a presence across the province. We are constantly expanding to add new programs in every part of the province. In the years since Special Olympics was brought to Newfoundland and Labrador, Special Olympics has been supported by a who’s who of outstanding leaders in the fields of sports, education, business, government and disability advocacy. They serve on the Provincial Board of Directors, give financial and political support, act as spokespeople, help build awareness, and establish connections with important organizations and the government. Under the Board’s guidance and the guidance of Special Olympics leaders, our provincial family of grass-roots volunteers, athletes, family and staff work tirelessly to ensure a quality sports experience for Special Olympics athletes and an accepting community for their families. Every day, talented volunteers and staff work to bring our sports programs to as many places as possible. We work so that we may realize Special Olympics ultimate vision: to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities everywhere, and, in turn, transform the lives of everyone they touch – building a better, more accepting world for all of us.

Raise Up Fundraising Inc. aims to work in partnerships with individuals and community organizations to provide supports, financial or otherwise, via creative and innovative fundraising events and projects in support of marginalized groups and peoples in Newfoundland & Labrador. Raise Up Fundraising looks to a future with a more equitable province for everyone and to act as a source of support for individuals and groups that are working towards poverty alleviation, the dismantling of oppressive systems, and true equality.

Resource Centre for the Arts operates from the historic LSPU Hall (so named as it was formerly owned by the Longshoremen’s Protective Union), affectionately referred to as The Hall – which houses a 175-198 seat theatre and a bar/Second Space Performance Room, in the heart of downtown St. John’s, Newfoundland. The Resource Centre for the Arts (RCA) aims to provide accessible, supportive and well-resourced programs and venues, with a primary focus on the creation, development, and advancement of the performing arts in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Bridges To Hope is a food aid center, providing healthy food hampers containing fresh fruit, homemade bread, milk, and other essential food items to hundreds of families and individuals each month. Bridges To Hope is committed to reducing the effects of poverty on individuals and families in our community.

Community Volunteers Wanted! Become a CVITP Volunteer! Volunteers are needed to help file simple income tax returns for eligible people in your community, on behalf of the Canada Revenue Agency’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). If you have a basic understanding of income tax and are interested in helping out your community, come Lend a Hand! The CRA will support you by providing training and free tax preparation software. The registration period to become a volunteer is from October through February. As a volunteer with the CVITP you will give back to your community by helping individuals receive their benefits and credits. You will increase your personal tax knowledge, gain new skills and improving existing ones, all while doing work that is valued and recognized. Our Origins Founded in 2006, FTLOL quickly gained a steady footing alongside established community partners. FTLOL is recognized within the community as an ambitious, arts-based empowerment and skill-building program which seeks out and values collaboration with its community partners. How we’re changing the world Working at street level to engage youth and identify their needs, FTLOL uses non-traditional. arts-based program offerings to enhance creativity and communication skills amongst youth who have lost faith in conventional learning methods. FTLOL provides a safe and productive learning environment with an overall spirit of fun, expression and achievement. Serving youth are at the core of every action and reaction of the organization. Free, full-time programming, developed in consultation with youth and experts in art, education, and the health sector, is offered to youth at the drop-in center in St. John's. We also showcase the work of our clients and bring awareness to our organization and youth issues by bringing youth-written, FTLOL-produced theatre productions to towns all throughout the province. The training and experience of the staff allow an ambitious schedule of projects to be completed, while the organizational structure permits flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of its clientele.
