Position Promotional Volunteer Region/Location St. John’s, NF   Commitment March 2016 – May 2016 Length of Time avg. 3 hrs/wk Staff Partner Volunteer Coordinator/ Administrative Assistant   POSITION OVERVIEW The purpose of this role is to develop and implement a marketing & communication plan for the upcoming 2016 Walk for Diabetes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.      Raise awareness of the Canadian Diabetes Association’s Annual Walk for Diabetes a.      Build and execute a plan to utilize the event’s marketing collateral to promote event b.     Distribution of posters/brochures to local businesses, medical clinics, fitness centers, pharmacies, etc. c.      Post to social media pages and internet sites d.      Other duties as required Must have access to own vehicle INITIAL IMPACT  The impact of promotion efforts include: 1.     To bring more people to event 2.     Raising of funds for the Association SUSTAINED OUTCOMES  1.     Increase in community presence for the Association 2.     Increase in event promotion  BENEFITS 1.      Play an integral role by engaging communities into the mission, vision, and values of the CDA 2.      Have a positive impact on the quality enhancement of life for people affected by diabetes 3.      Enhance your portfolio and resume and gain skills directly related to the field of Marketing and Communications TRAINING 1.      Atlantic Orientation 2.      Position-specific Orientation   in-person/skype/phone a.      Project Background b.     Association Style Guide SUPPORT 1.      Staff partner will be available for ongoing check-ins via email, phone, or in person. 2.      The Promotional Volunteer will have access to a suite of collateral including a buckslip, poster, brochure etc, Regional face book page, etc. SKILLS 1.      Ability to take initiative and be self-directed 2.      Excellent attention to detail 3.      Proficiency in the MS Office suite of desktop applications, online resources and social media 4.      Strong organizational and administration skills QUALIFICATIONS 1.      Must have access to own vehicle
