Opportunity Description:

Objective: The Route Coordinator manages the design, designation and municipal approval of the route. This includes the set-up and takedown of signage for the 1km and 5km routes and checkpoints as well to provide a safe environment for walkers. Length of Involvement: Minimum four month commitment. Time Required: Attend committee meetings on a bi-weekly basis during event planning cycle. Frequency of meetings may increase in the months leading up to the Walk. Complete required activities between meetings. Attend the Walk. Responsibilities: Work with committee to determine and design route course as appropriate. Ensure proper signage is on course for the 1km and 5km routes. Provide guidance and support to event day volunteers assigned to the route marshal and checkpoint positions. Communicate any issues or assistance required on route and ensure a safe environment for walkers. Create a communication plan for registered walkers that ensures walkers are communicated with on a regular basis leading up to the Walk. Ensure take down of signage after last walker and clean up. Attend all Walk meetings and ensure deliverables are complete. Recruit a team of walkers and set an aggressive fundraising goal. Orientation and Training: All committee members will receive an orientation to The Arthritis Society and The Walk to Fight Arthritis. Additional training will be provided as needed.
