The St. John’s International CircusFest premieres September 27-30, 2018, bringing the world of circus to Atlantic Canada. Hosted by the Wonderbolt Circus, this festival will feature top national and international circus performers and troupes, and will have visibility through a multitude of workshops, outreach projects, professional development sessions and of course incredible circus shows. There is something for everyone at CircusFest!

The St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival (SJIWFF) is one of the longest running women’s film festivals in the world. Established in 1989 with a bold vision of supporting and promoting the creative work of women in screen-based industries from around the world, the Festival has grown from a single evening of screenings to the province’s flagship film festival. Operating year-round, the SJIWFF is known for a diverse program of independent film screenings, high-calibre workshops and masterclasses, international film forums, hands-on youth filmmaking camps, career-accelerating mentorship programs and of course, advocacy work in the movement for gender diversity in our industry. Every year the Festival receives over 600 film submissions and from those we present a powerful program of international documentaries, short films and feature works for the signature five-day annual Festival. Respected nationally and internationally, the SJIWFF will celebrate its 30th annual Festival October 16-20, 2019 in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador. Festival week also features the [Interactive] Film Industry Forum, consisting of panels, workshops and face-to-face meetings for filmmakers, producers, and interactive creators. The Forum focuses on the business of filmmaking while the Festival celebrates international works by women. Our Mandate - Increase the exposure of new works written and / or directed by women. - Showcase the province to the Canadian and international film industry. - Increase the national and international profile of St. John’s and the province as a vibrant cultural site and place to do business. - Deliver programs to help develop the next generation of filmmakers. - Offer outreach programs, aimed at supporting local emerging filmmakers and growing local film audiences. - Facilitate interaction among filmmakers and between filmmakers and their audiences. - Provide local communities access to outstanding yet unfamiliar and limited-release works. - Produce a unique cultural event that highlights our filmmakers, our province and our industry. - Support the development of the local film community through promotion, exhibition, market access, professional development and training opportunities and grants.

The St. John's Youth Justice Committee is a volunteer program responsible for facilitating extrajudicial sanctions (EJS) for the youth of St. John's Metro region. EJS is a restorative justice program authorized under the Youth Criminal Justice Act to provide alternatives to the court system for young people who experience conflict with the law between their 12th and 18th birthday. Volunteers are responsible for screening files for suitability, participating in mediation and diversion, community development, working close with young people and social justice. The Program is under the umbrella of Youth Corrections with Children Seniors Social Development. We hope that through our process victims are empowered and young people are able to restore back to the community what was broken.

Saint Luke’s Community Living is owned and operated by Anglican Homes Incorporated, a not-for-profit organization. Through our four locations in the Waterford Valley of St. John’s – Saint Luke’s Long Term Care Home, the Cottages, Bishop Meaden Manor, and Babb Manor – we strive to provide a long-term continuum of care to meet the individual needs of seniors and their families. In addition to live in services, St. Luke’s also provide an Adult Day Program. The Adult Day Program is the only regional program of its kind. It provides social/recreational programming for seniors living in the community who have limited access to such resources due to physical, cognitive or social barriers. A key aspect to the provision of these services is access to bussing services. The current bus has reached the end of it’s service life and we have started our fund raising campaign “We Don’t Want to Make a Fuss – We Just Want a New Bus”.

Stella’s Circle transforms lives every day. We provide services to adults who face many barriers to fully participating in their community.  These barriers include mental health challenges, addictions, trauma, poverty, homelessness, criminal justice involvement, low literacy, and long periods of unemployment. Our mission is to transform lives through Real Homes, Real Help, and Real Work. Can’t find housing? We offer Real Homes. The Brian Martin Housing Resource Centre offers counselling, advocacy and other support services to help people find secure housing. Jess’s Place offers a safe, supportive, independent transitional housing for women over the age of 18 in recovery from addiction. Naomi Centre is a temporary shelter and support for women aged 16-29 within a harm reduction model. Need counselling or support? We offer Real Help. Emmanuel House is a residential counselling program, offering individual counselling, therapeutic groups and life skills in a supportive environment. The Community Support Program provides intensive assistance to people living independently in the community with complex mental health needs. The Just Us Women’s Centre offers programs and support for women who have been in conflict with the law. Services are also offered at the NL Correctional Centre for Women in Clarenville. Need work or job training? We offer Real Work. Our Social Enterprise Training Program offers training to help people work in food service, as trades helpers, or as cleaners. CanDo Enterprises offers flexible on-the-job work experience. Employment Transition Groups help participants to engage in a range of options to address their varying needs as they move towards employment. Job Development and Employment Maintenance ensures opportunities for successful employment for participants who are ready to enter the workforce. Adult Basic Education Level I helps adults complete their schooling. Need to make new connections? The Stella’s Circle Inclusion Choir welcomes participants to learn about the joy of singing.

Take a Pain Check Foundation is a Canadian registered, international youth-led community and non-profit organization founded in self-advocacy to empower youth with rheumatic diseases. They host bi-weekly podcasts, run ambassador programs for health professionals and youth, pilot rheumatic-related events, feature stories on their blog platform and lead monthly Joint Chat Rheum hangouts. Our Mission: Take a Pain Check’s aims to empower youth and young adults impacted by rheumatic disease to advocate for themselves and to create a supportive, safe, and inclusive community where individuals feel understood. Our Vision: Through this youth led initiative our vision is that all youth and young adults feel supported in their journey with rheumatic illness.

TeamUP Science is excited to bring you an all-new virtual event series for junior high students! The Canada CyberSTEAM Challenge (C3) is a series of six 48-hour challenges that students in grades 6-9 located anywhere in Canada can complete alone or with a partner in the comfort of their own homes. C3 aims to provide youth from rural or underprivileged communities with academic enrichment opportunities that they would not otherwise have access to. C3 aims to create an international community of youth united in their passion for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.

Annual Haunted House (Previously known as Harbour Haunt) held at 10 Pearl Place, St. John's (Frontline Action). Portion of the proceeds goes to Miles for Smiles and Easter Seals.

Mission United for Literacy, formerly known as Frontier College, is a national charitable literacy organization. We believe literacy is a right. The Association for New Canadians (ANC) is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to the settlement and integration of immigrants and refugees to Canada. For over 30 years, the ANC has delivered programs and services designed to support all aspects of newcomer integration, including settlement information and orientation, language training, skills development and employment.

The Dream Fund is a registered Canadian charity that makes dreams come true for sick kids all over Newfoundland & Labrador. Started by William Short of Marystown at the age of 14, The Dream Fund (formerly the Short Circuit Dream Fund) was designed to make a difference — if only small — in the lives of sick children across Newfoundland & Labrador. Now in operation for over seven years, we’ve changed the lives of more than 25 families in ways we never thought possible.
