Opportunity Description:

Objective: The Volunteer Coordinator manages all aspects of recruitment, placement, scheduling, and recognition of event day volunteers. This includes event day check in and out, liaison with other logistic coordinators, handing out volunteer T-shirts and providing orientation as required. Length of Involvement: Minimum four month commitment. Time Required: Attend committee meetings on a bi-weekly basis during event planning cycle. Frequency of meetings may increase in the months leading up to the Walk. Complete required activities between meetings. Attend the Walk. Responsibilities: Work with committee and committee to determine volunteer needs for event day and support positions. Develop a recruitment plan to include individual and group involvement. Follow up to all inquires and place volunteers as indicated by interest. Schedule volunteers and provide copy to all coordinators for Walk Day. Coordinate and provide support at check in and out table, hand out t-shirts and answer questions. Recruit and train event day volunteer leads who will oversee event day volunteers in their specific activities. Work with staff coordinator and committee to determine appropriate recognition for event day volunteers. Submit hours to staff coordinator for data entry and tracking of contributions. Attend all Walk meetings and ensure deliverables are complete. Recruit a team of walkers and set an aggressive fundraising goal. Orientation and Training: All committee members will receive an orientation to The Arthritis Society and The Walk to Fight Arthritis. Additional training will be provided as needed.
