Opportunity Description:

Objective: The Community Awareness Coordinator manages all activities that raise public awareness and understanding of The Arthritis Society and The Walk to Fight Arthritis in the local community. This includes strengthening relationships with the community through networking opportunities, speaking to companies and community groups, holding public information sessions, and attending local events to promote the Walk. Length of Involvement: Four month commitment. Time Commitment: Attend committee meetings on a bi-weekly basis during event planning cycle. Frequency of meetings may increase in the months leading up to the Walk. Complete required activities between meetings. Attend the Walk. Responsibilities: Working closely with the event chair (co-chairs), create a community awareness plan that includes a mix of activities. Work with the committee to establish networking opportunities and community events that would be suitable as walk promotion opportunities. Maintain an accurate, timely list of all community awareness activities. Attend networking events or select a designate. Be aware of The Walk to Fight Arthritis Key Messages and use them for all communications. Be familiar with The Walk to Fight Arthritis PowerPoint presentation and make recommendations for changes if necessary. Be knowledgeable about The Arthritis Society and The Walk to Fight Arthritis. Attend all Walk committee meetings and ensure deliverables are completed. Recruit a team of walkers and set an aggressive fundraising goal. Orientation and Training: All committee members will receive an orientation to The Arthritis Society and The Walk to Fight Arthritis. Additional training will be provided as needed.
