After Stroke is a personalized stroke recovery program that helps survivors, and their families navigate the path forward after a stroke. Our support extends throughout every phase of recovery: from the earliest days in the hospital, to transitioning back home, to the changes and victories that follow. The program aims to optimize recovery outcomes and offer stroke survivors individual support and community throughout the recovery journey. The Program Assistant plays a key role in this process by helping the Volunteer Engagement Coordinators in administrative tasks and community outreach. This role includes a variety of tasks and responsibilities which the Program Assistant can choose from based on their interest. There is no expectation that the Program Assistant will engage in all the tasks and responsibilities listed below unless they wish to do so. What You'll be Doing:Main Responsibilities ​Assist with Peer Support Group facilitation (guiding group discussions, one-to-one discussions with group members) Taking attendance and reporting to VEC Collecting group member contact details for mailing list and reporting to VEC Be familiar with and able to discuss After Stroke program and services Picking up refreshments (optional) Researching and booking of guest speakers (optional) Secondary Responsibilities​Be a program ambassador by attending community events representing MODC and the After Stroke program alongside a staff member/ other volunteer Set up and tear down of information table or booth at event venue Keep record of community contacts/interested individuals made at events and pass on to staff members Assisting with setting up and resetting the space Time Commitment: Flexible, 2 hours per monthLocations: In-person, Clarenville​Qualities We're Looking For:18 years of age and older Confidence speaking with members of the public, or wanting to work toward building confidence ​Commitment to creating a barrier-free and inclusive society by respecting the rights, dignity, and individuality of people with disabilities This position may require the ability to sit, stand, lift and bend as needed ​​Interested in learning more about this exciting opportunity?Contact Mackenzie Kirby by e-mail at mkirby@marchofdimes.ca, or by phone at 709-853-3753If interested, please click here to apply.Not interested but know someone who may be? The 2026 St. John's/Mount Pearl MS Walk is taking place Sunday, May 31st at 10 AM at the Reid Community Centre. We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help us bring this event to life!MS Walk is a one-day event held at over 50 locations across Canada, bringing together people impacted by multiple sclerosis.On May 31st, gather your friends, family, and coworkers for a day of meaningful action! There are various areas where volunteer help is needed to ensure that this event runs smoothly and participants have a great experience.Volunteer opportunities include:Event Set-Up & Wrap-UpParticipant/Volunteer Check-InCheckpoint AttendantsFood & Beverage AreaRoute MarshalsStart/Finish Line Cheer Squad*Volunteers under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
