For over 100 years, the Canadian Red Cross Society has been a highly trusted and respected organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable populations in Canada and around the world. In Atlantic Canada, our organization provides assistance through Community Health and Wellness, Emergency (Disaster) Management, and Injury Prevention programs including First Aid. All Canadian Red Cross programs are guided by 7 fundamental principles; Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. The Community Health and Wellness programs in Newfoundland and Labrador aim to improve the health outcomes of the most vulnerable through community based actions, for example Meals on Wheels and our Health Equipment Loam Program.

ClimaFacts Atlantic is committed to enhancing public knowledge on environmental climate change issues among Atlantic Canadians by providing an accessible resource about scientific climate research, promoting informed discussions and positive change.

The St. John's Youth Justice Committee is a volunteer program responsible for facilitating extrajudicial sanctions (EJS) for the youth of St. John's Metro region. EJS is a restorative justice program authorized under the Youth Criminal Justice Act to provide alternatives to the court system for young people who experience conflict with the law between their 12th and 18th birthday. Volunteers are responsible for screening files for suitability, participating in mediation and diversion, community development, working close with young people and social justice. The Program is under the umbrella of Youth Corrections with Children Seniors Social Development. We hope that through our process victims are empowered and young people are able to restore back to the community what was broken.

Our Mission To uplift and empower women who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness through in-kind support, education and community participation. Our Vision To foster equitable communities where all women are seen, valued, and treated with dignity and compassion. Our Approach - Through volunteer-led gift drives that benefit women who are impacted by homelessness, we build compassionate and connected communities - By distributing essentials of daily living to shelters and community agencies, we support women and gender-diverse people facing income inequality. - By building awareness and educating youth, we challenge stigmas, fight discrimination, and promote equity.

There is a great need in our community for people like you to listen, believe, and support those affected by sexual violence. Our next training cycle begins January 30, 2024. Our volunteer supporters become part of a dedicated group of people who provide an invaluable service to survivors of sexual violence all across Newfoundland and Labrador. Involvement with the ESVNL provides volunteer supporters the opportunity to gain experience, knowledge, and skills in many areas, including crisis intervention, advocacy, not-for-profit organizations, and a variety of issues related to sexual violence. The trained individuals on our 24 hours crisis and support line are dedicated and passionate. Our volunteer supporters provide empathy, support, and trauma-informed responses for vulnerable individuals who need varying degrees of support. As part of this wonderful team not only will training be provided, but there is ongoing support and debriefing. Training is done virtually over zoom. This volunteer opportunity is flexible. Kids Help Phone is Canada’s only free, 24/7, confidential e-mental health service offering support in English and French to young people through phone, text and online resources.

Guardians Of Recovery is a Non-Profit Foundation formed to support those with Mental Health and Addictions themselves and their families. The vision is to create sober-living homes and communities that foster the opportunity to recover and thrive in a substance-free home, or mini-community. Sparked by the death of Ben Olivero who died of an overdose on July 29, 2023, this RECOVERY REVOLUTION was ignited to transform the stigma of addiction, mainstream the conversation of recovery and provide people with a healing place of dignity, responsibility, accountability, healing and purpose. Founded in 1918, the CNIB Foundation is a non-profit organization driven to change what it is to be blind today. We deliver innovative programs and powerful advocacy that empower people impacted by blindness to live their dreams and tear down barriers to inclusion. Our work as a blind foundation is powered by a network of volunteers, donors and partners from coast to coast to coast.

Easter Seals NL's Run, Walk, Stroll, and Roll: DASH FOR DONUTS is happening June 24th (June 25th is our backup rain date!) from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM at Bowring Park. Choose to run, walk, stroll or roll around the 2 KM loop or the 5 KM loop, and receive a donut at the finish line to celebrate! We will also have a BBQ and live entertainment during the event. We're an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that mails friendly, conversational, handwritten letters and cards to elders in care facilities and senior programs across Canada, the US, the UK and Australia. Since April 2020, tens of thousands of volunteers have sent nearly one million pieces of correspondence in 30 languages!
