The Friendship Circle exists to bring friendship and fun to special needs children and their families. We do so through monthly activities, our Pen Pal program and weekly group music lessons. All of our programs are free of charge!

The St. John's Youth Justice Committee is a volunteer program responsible for facilitating extrajudicial sanctions (EJS) for the youth of St. John's Metro region. EJS is a restorative justice program authorized under the Youth Criminal Justice Act to provide alternatives to the court system for young people who experience conflict with the law between their 12th and 18th birthday. Volunteers are responsible for screening files for suitability, participating in mediation and diversion, community development, working close with young people and social justice. The Program is under the umbrella of Youth Corrections with Children Seniors Social Development. We hope that through our process victims are empowered and young people are able to restore back to the community what was broken.

Our Mission To uplift and empower women who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness through in-kind support, education and community participation. Our Vision To foster equitable communities where all women are seen, valued, and treated with dignity and compassion. Our Approach - Through volunteer-led gift drives that benefit women who are impacted by homelessness, we build compassionate and connected communities - By distributing essentials of daily living to shelters and community agencies, we support women and gender-diverse people facing income inequality. - By building awareness and educating youth, we challenge stigmas, fight discrimination, and promote equity.

We're an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that mails friendly, conversational, handwritten letters and cards to elders in care facilities and senior programs across Canada, the US, the UK and Australia. Since April 2020, tens of thousands of volunteers have sent nearly one million pieces of correspondence in 30 languages!

Ordinary Spokes is a non-profit community cycling organization. Based in St John’s, NL, we operate a community cycling repair hub and resource centre, and provide outreach events in the community. We are a D.I.Y.-focused organization with a mandate to increase access to affordable transportation for everyone. We are an LGBTQ2S+ friendly space.

Special Olympics is composed of passionate, committed individuals from every walk of life, who recognise the value and unique gifts of people with intellectual disabilities. And, who together, share the common belief of dignity, equality and opportunity for all people. Special Olympics Newfoundland and Labrador is a non-profit organization serving individuals with an intellectual disability, with a presence across the province. We are constantly expanding to add new programs in every part of the province. In the years since Special Olympics was brought to Newfoundland and Labrador, Special Olympics has been supported by a who’s who of outstanding leaders in the fields of sports, education, business, government and disability advocacy. They serve on the Provincial Board of Directors, give financial and political support, act as spokespeople, help build awareness, and establish connections with important organizations and the government. Under the Board’s guidance and the guidance of Special Olympics leaders, our provincial family of grass-roots volunteers, athletes, family and staff work tirelessly to ensure a quality sports experience for Special Olympics athletes and an accepting community for their families. Every day, talented volunteers and staff work to bring our sports programs to as many places as possible. We work so that we may realize Special Olympics ultimate vision: to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities everywhere, and, in turn, transform the lives of everyone they touch – building a better, more accepting world for all of us.

The East Coast Trail Association is a registered charity established to provide a wilderness hiking experience by developing and maintaining the East Coast Trail, promoting public access, minimizing its impact on the natural environment and protecting it for future generations.

Challenger Baseball is an adaptive baseball program designed to empower children and youth living with cognitive and/or physical disabilities. The program teaches children and youth the core life skills inherent to baseball, including: teamwork, communication, determination, resiliency, inclusion, support and courage. Challenger Baseball ensures every participant has the opportunity to play in a fun and safe environment where they learn to become more independent, build confidence and self-esteem, improve their communication skills, and set and achieve their own personal goals.

What is ultimate? Since its creation in the late 60s, ultimate has gained worldwide recognition as a fast-paced, low-cost sport that emphasizes sportsmanship through Spirit of the Game. It’s easy to learn, requires little equipment and can easily be played in any open space. The basic skills of the game – throwing, catching, running and jumping – make for an easy transition for athletes from other sports, both team and individual. Ultimate is a self-refereed sport with the onus on each player to ensure that other players and themselves are acting within the rules and abiding by the ideals of fair play and Spirit of the Game. It’s built on the understanding of respect for all players on the field and that fair play is essential in creating an enjoyable playing experience. What is Ultimate Newfoundland and Labrador (Ultimate NL)? Ultimate NL is the provincial sports organization for ultimate frisbee in Newfoundland and Labrador. A not-for-profit organization that’s governed by a volunteer board of directors, its mandate is to grow the sport of ultimate throughout the province.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - NLAA NEEDS VOLUNTEERS FOR XC SERIES FOR SCHOOLS Do you need volunteer hours, or an excuse to get out of the house on a Saturday morning? Volunteering with NLAA is a fun way to earn your volunteer hours, while learning new skills, meeting new friends, and giving back to the community. No previous experience necessary. The Newfoundland and Labrador Athletics Association (NLAA) is the sole governing body in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador for the sport of Athletics. We organize events for Cross-Country, Track & Field, and Road Races for people of all ages and athletic abilities.
