Position Title: Neuropsychiatric Research Intern*

Research Team Dynamics:
- Direct interaction, through weekly team meetings, with Director of Research/Neuropsychiatrist, Dr. Hugh Mirolo, and Research Coordinator, Heather Watkins
- Intern(s) will carry out research duties throughout the week and report back to the team during weekly Neuropsychiatry research meetings
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Active participation in weekly Neuropsychiatry research meetings, including but not limited to ‘Journal Club’ sessions)
- Journal article review (‘critical appraisal’)
- Weekly mentoring sessions whereby practical aspects of neuropsychiatric research are discussed
- Collaboration in neuropsychiatric research proposal development
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or higher in relevant field
o Psychology or Neuroscience preferred
o Experience in reviewing scientific journal articles - Passionate about Neuropsychiatry, Neuropsychiatric Conditions (i.e. brain injuries, autism, stroke, Huntington’s disease, and others), and Scientific Research
- Professionalism, strong work ethic, and commitment essential
- Ability to work both as part of a team and individually, under little or no direct supervision
Commitment Required:
- Minimum of 5-6 hours in group meetings (weekly Neuropsychiatry research meetings and mentoring sessions)
- Additional hours flexible according to current research team activities
- Long-term commitment required (One-year minimum)
Location and Scheduling:
- Weekly Neuropsychiatry research team meetings are held Friday evenings in Mount Pearl
- Mentoring sessions held approximately mid-week at Memorial University or via Skype/Face Time
- Other duties (i.e Journal article review) to be carried out at a time and location of Intern’s choosing
