The Halifax Helpers was established to make sure that all students receive the academic support they require to become fearless learners. We provide free online tutoring and language sessions for elementary, junior high school, and high school students in the maritimes and beyond.

The World Oceans Day NL Planning Committee is a committee comprised of representation from Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Fisheries and Aquaculture NL, Marine Institute, and Fish, Food, and Allied Workers-Unifor that plans and holds in-person and online events celebrating World Oceans Day annually.

Global Choice is a non-profit, non-governmental, and volunteer-based organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help high school students develop the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.

Our volunteers come from diverse cultural backgrounds and ethnicities. YRES has many opportunities for volunteers as we are always expanding our programs. These opportunities allow you to give back to your community but also develop industry leading skills in a professional environment. YRES is a Charitable Not-for-Profit Organization that uses the help of community partners in order to carry out a variety of ever-expanding Educational Services.

We are Habitat for Humanity Newfoundland and Labrador Inc., an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity Canada. Incorporated as a charitable non-profit organization in Newfoundland and Labrador in May 1994, Habitat NL assists low income families achieve home ownership by mobilizing local communities, volunteers, materials and financial resources through supportive, wide ranging partnerships.

It is the ECMA's mission to foster, develop, promote and celebrate East Coast music and its artists locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. We strive to succeed in our mission through the execution of our annual event (East Coast Music Week), educational sessions, trade missions and our International Export Program. We also partner with special industry organizations to offer additional opportunities to our artists.

The Lantern Festival is a public project. Victoria Park is the canvas for the festival, and the festival highlights the historical and natural features of the park, including the annual daylighting of buried Bennett's Brook with a river of glass jar lanterns. The sheer number of people who attend the festival and enjoy this vital urban space for the afternoon and after dusk is astounding.

MusicNL exists to address key issues affecting the Newfoundland & Labrador music industry in order to implement positive change by presenting a strong voice to government, business and the community at large. To increase awareness locally, nationally and internationally of provincially produced music as an art form and as a viable industry with significant impact on the economy. To create and encourage opportunities which will stimulate growth of the industry. Resource Centre for the Arts operates from the historic LSPU Hall (so named as it was formerly owned by the Longshoremen’s Protective Union), affectionately referred to as The Hall – which houses a 175-198 seat theatre and a bar/Second Space Performance Room, in the heart of downtown St. John’s, Newfoundland. The Resource Centre for the Arts (RCA) aims to provide accessible, supportive and well-resourced programs and venues, with a primary focus on the creation, development, and advancement of the performing arts in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival (SJIWFF) is one of the longest running women’s film festivals in the world. Established in 1989 with a bold vision of supporting and promoting the creative work of women in screen-based industries from around the world, the Festival has grown from a single evening of screenings to the province’s flagship film festival. Operating year-round, the SJIWFF is known for a diverse program of independent film screenings, high-calibre workshops and masterclasses, international film forums, hands-on youth filmmaking camps, career-accelerating mentorship programs and of course, advocacy work in the movement for gender diversity in our industry. Every year the Festival receives over 600 film submissions and from those we present a powerful program of international documentaries, short films and feature works for the signature five-day annual Festival. Respected nationally and internationally, the SJIWFF will celebrate its 30th annual Festival October 16-20, 2019 in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador. Festival week also features the [Interactive] Film Industry Forum, consisting of panels, workshops and face-to-face meetings for filmmakers, producers, and interactive creators. The Forum focuses on the business of filmmaking while the Festival celebrates international works by women. Our Mandate - Increase the exposure of new works written and / or directed by women. - Showcase the province to the Canadian and international film industry. - Increase the national and international profile of St. John’s and the province as a vibrant cultural site and place to do business. - Deliver programs to help develop the next generation of filmmakers. - Offer outreach programs, aimed at supporting local emerging filmmakers and growing local film audiences. - Facilitate interaction among filmmakers and between filmmakers and their audiences. - Provide local communities access to outstanding yet unfamiliar and limited-release works. - Produce a unique cultural event that highlights our filmmakers, our province and our industry. - Support the development of the local film community through promotion, exhibition, market access, professional development and training opportunities and grants.

Our vision is to connect culturally diverse school youth, foster belonging and acceptance among all school children, be relevant within the schools and province, and contribute towards an inclusive and cohesive society.

The St. John’s International CircusFest premieres September 27-30, 2018, bringing the world of circus to Atlantic Canada. Hosted by the Wonderbolt Circus, this festival will feature top national and international circus performers and troupes, and will have visibility through a multitude of workshops, outreach projects, professional development sessions and of course incredible circus shows. There is something for everyone at CircusFest!
