Taste for Life Volunteer Positions

Description: Restaurant Filler: Would you like a volunteer activity which you can perform from the comfort of your own home? Do you have friends who enjoy good food and good company? Then this opportunity is too good to pass up! In order for this night to be a success, we need as many people in these restaurants as possible. Your responsibilities as a volunteer will be as follows: Come to a meet and greet with the staff at ACNL to learn more about the event. The time and date will be finalized at a later date. Get as many of your friends, family, colleagues as you can together, make a reservation at a participating restaurant, and On April 22nd, enjoy a night of good food in support of those with HIV and Hep C in your community. One lucky diner will even win a flight for two anywhere that WestJet flies! Poster Distributor: A fundraiser such as Taste for Life requires a lot of publicity, and in order to do this we need posters all over the city! This volunteer position is responsible for the following: Come to a meet and greet with the staff at ACNL to learn more about the event and pick up promotional flyers. The time and date will be finalized at a later date. Post these flyers at bus-stops, in stores, on campus, and anywhere else you believe that people are going to notice. Restaurant Greeters/Ticket Distributor: On the night of this event, every diner at participating restaurants will be given a ticket for a chance to win the grand prize of a trip for two anywhere WestJet flies. In order to do this, we usually need 2 volunteers per restaurant. These volunteers will be responsible for the following: Come to a meet and greet with the staff at ACNL to learn more about the event. The time and date will be finalized at a later date. Greet diners at an assigned restaurant, Distribute tickets to every diner, and Leave tickets with the restaurant at the end of the night.

Volunteer Recruiter

Organization: Canadian Diabetes Association - St.John's and Metro Area

Description: The purpose of this role is to increase volunteer capacity in the Canadian Diabetes Association through targeted recruitment and community presence. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Work with the Volunteer Engagement Manager to learn all elements necessary for training 2. Research opportunities and/or events for networking and recruitment 3. Work collaboratively with Canadian Diabetes Association staff to identify techniques, strategies, skills, groups or individuals in the region who can help expand the Association’s reach and impact 4. Implement the active recruitment strategy for each workforce request 5. Use various methods of recruitment including but not limited to: online resources, social media, brochures, posters, ‘calls to action’, role postings, free psa’s, etc. 6. Track all efforts of recruitment for each volunteer request using provided tracking sheet 7. Attend, where appropriate, networking opportunities as VEST Recruiter and Ambassador for the association 8. Communicate regularly with VEST Interviewers 9. Communicate frequently with the VEST Records Management to monitor volunteer placements and adjusting recruitment efforts accordingly 10. Once roles have been filled, take down recruitment materials/postings (ie. Websites, etc) 11. Follow all Association policies including the Privacy Policy 12. Communicate frequently with VEST Leader and other members of the VEST 13. Monitor current workload, request additional support train new Volunteer Recruiters INITIAL IMPACT The impact of outreach efforts include: 1. Active methods of recruitment will result in higher impact and CDA activity 2. Public awareness and value of CDA will be enhanced by the interactions with the community 3. Increase volunteer capacity in rural communities across NS SUSTAINED OUTCOMES 1. Increase in retention of volunteers 2. Collaboration of recruitment between CDA staff, VEST Supporter, and VEST Recruiters BENEFITS 1. Play an integral role by engaging volunteers and staff into the mission, vision, and values of the CDA 2. Extend professional and personal networks in the community and the VEST 3. VEST Recruiters will meet as a group midway through their role to share best practices and trouble shoot in a collaborative manner 4. Access provided outside of CDA office to necessary files and databases 5. Volunteer Engagement Manager will provide any additional opportunities (internal or external to CDA) that may be of benefit to the Recruiters 6. Additional VEST Recruiters will be recruited as needed 7. IT computer support via phone from National Office during Eastern Standard Time Business Hours

YMCA Summer Work Exchange Program 3-6 Week Host Family

Description: When? June 27th-August 9th Who? Anyone who is able to provide a safe home with a bed for the student and a comfortable living environment Who are the students? Students are 16-17 year old youth from Quebec who have been selected for the exchange. They will be working fulltime in non profit organizations during the week and participating in group activities on all weekends but one. They will be practising their english. How?
