Lantern Festival Assistant

Description: The Lantern Festival is a public project. Victoria Park is the canvas for the festival, and the festival highlights the historical and natural features of the park, including the annual daylighting of buried Bennett's Brook with a river of glass jar lanterns. The sheer number of people who attend the festival and enjoy this vital urban space for the afternoon and after dusk is astounding.

TERROR TOWN is BACK! And we are starting our search for this years volunteers!

Description: Terror Town is back for a bigger and better year!! We are now starting our search for this years volunteers! Terror Town is St. John's biggest and longest Haunted House that operates Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the month of October in the evenings until 11PM. A portion of all ticket sales goes towards the Miles for Smiles organization and Easter Seals. We need volunteers every night for all kinds of positions including but not limited to: - Setting Up - Costumes/Make Up - Guides - Acting - Tearing Down And Much More... Sustain the Trail Project Contributors Needed

Description: The East Coast Trail Association will launch five vital projects in September and urgently needs project team volunteers. The primary responsibility for volunteers will be to provide management and oversight, while working with contracted professional services to perform the scope of work. Website Development We’re redeveloping our website to deliver a web experience to match the world-class trail experience. You can help us provide direction to a contracted vendor and play a significant role in preparing content for the website. We need volunteers with knowledge and experience related to website design/development, content management systems, digital marketing, and writing and editing skills. Fundraising and Revenue Strategy We’re developing a new fundraising and revenue model capable of sustaining the trail and the Association. You can help guide the assessment of the current funding model and development of a new fundraising and revenue strategy, including the delivery of a legacy fund campaign to protect and sustain the trail. We need volunteers with knowledge and experience related to fundraising, revenue generation, communications, marketing and corporate relations. Trail Maps and Information Delivery We’re defining and implementing a new mapping and information delivery system to help manage the trail and generate products and services such as trail maps and trail/community information. You can help guide the definition, setup and implementation of a GIS system and mapping model to manage the trail and deliver information products and services. We need volunteers with knowledge and experience related to GIS, mapping, information management, and delivery of information as a product or service, and technology integration. Trailhead and Community Signage We’re improving our trailhead and community signage to help hikers locate the trails and to make sure they are prepared to enter the wilderness. You can help us assess current signage and guide the design of new signage to improve hiker experience and safety. We need volunteers with knowledge and experience related to trail management, signage and graphic design, marketing, fundraising or health and safety. Highway Hiking and Parking We’re exploring the need to reduce the amount of “highway hiking” while providing for safe, enjoyable hiking experiences through communities, as well as assessing the capacity of our trailhead parking lots to accommodate increasing hiker demand. Move for a Mental Health

Learning Series Presenter

Description: Purpose: To share information about diabetes management to people with diabetes for various community groups, organizations and educational institutions, using a pre-set series of presentation modules. Responsibilities: • Deliver the prepared Learning Series presentation to the audience in Powerpoint™ or overhead projector format in keeping with the program’s Facilitator Guide • Organize the equipment and supplies required to deliver the presentation • Collect evaluation forms from participants and complete your own evaluation on your presentation (including information about the number of people in your audience etc.) • Attend all mandatory training • Follow all Association policies including the Direct Healthcare Advice Policy Desirable Attributes and Skills: • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Independent and willing to travel within your community while transporting equipment and supplies Support/Training Available: • Orientation to the Canadian Diabetes Association including Direct Healthcare Advice Policy • Volunteer Development Training Module ‘Delivering our Learning Series: Information for Presenters’ • Learning Series Facilitator’s Guide Time Commitment 4 to 6 hours per month

Residential Campaign Canvasser

Description: Residential Campaign Canvasser: Do you have an afternoon to give to support Canadians living with diabetes? Support the work of the Canadian Diabetes Association by volunteering as a Residential Campaign Canvasser. Door-to-door canvassing remains a key source of revenue for the Association and gives Canvassers an opportunity to connect with their neighbours around this very worthy cause. Key Responsibilities Collect and return campaign materials from your Regional Office or Branch Canvass door-to-door in your assigned area and ensure that potential donors are aware of the activities of the Canadian Diabetes Association and how their donation will help to contribute to the cause Gather complete name, address and postal code information from donors to ensure processing of their tax receipt Balance receipt book and report of donations Return materials by May 25 to your regional office, community drop off location or captain Follow all Canadian Diabetes Association policies including the Direct Healthcare Advice Policy   Desired Skills and Attributes Confidence in approaching your neighbours and community members and making a personal ask for monetary donations Engaging and outgoing personality Good organizational and time management skills Previous experience with the Canadian Diabetes Association Residential Campaign is an asset Qualifications Balancing cash Balancing cash/cheques to the receipt books and making sure totals match Training & Support Local captain will be available for questions and guidance throughout the campaign Community Engagement Coordinator will be available throughout the campaign Introduction materials will be provided with canvassing kit contents Time Commitment 5 hours

Events Management Data Entry Specialist

Description: The purpose of this role is to support the community programs and partnerships staff in Newfoundland for events management. BENEFITS: • Gain skills in data entry and familiarity with non-profit software • Increase personal awareness of the Canadian Diabetes Association and the work we do • Maintain and enhance administrative, computer and communication skills • Expand personal network and gain experience in a workplace and non-profit setting KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Data entry into computer (including constituent information, events, etc) 2. Provide general information about CDA to walk-ins and callers or forward to functional lead. 3. Data processing (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc) as needed 4. As needed internet research (to find addresses, contacts, etc) and ability to do general problem solving 5. Photocopying, scanning and emailing various documentation as needed 6. Communicate and update on work progress/outcomes 7. Support with other administrative and programs functions as needed 8.
