St. John’s, NL.   Date Saturday Nov. 7th Commitment Day of Event (November) Length of Time Provide your preferred time commitment to staff Staff Partners Community Engagement Coordinator POSITION OVERVIEW   To help ensure participants and sponsors/donors have a successful event.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES   Various event tasks as needed. Program Volunteer

Description: Background Check Required (Vulnerable Sector & Record of Conduct) Appropriate for Youth (i.e., less than 18) Appropriate for Volunteers Aged Between 18 and 55 Appropriate for Volunteers Aged 55 and Over Family-Oriented Volunteering Opportunity Description: Teen Night Program: – Program runs Sunday nights from 6:30-8:30 pm Activities such as movie nights, board games, tournaments, TV game shows, outings and much more. Volunteers are needed to help run the program After School Program: The after school program at Virginia Park Community Centre runs from 2:30-4:45 pm Monday to Friday. Volunteers will help with activities such as homework, sports, games, arts and crafts, and other activities. Other tasks include preparing and/or distributing snack and helping to tidy up the areas used during the program.

Parade Day Volunteer (Various Tasks)

Description: On December 19th the Mummers Festival is hosting a wide array of community events in downtown St. John's! Our biggest events of the day include our annual Mummers Parade, as well as a new event called the Mummers Dozen Pub Crawl. We need volunteers to do various tasks throughout the day. You can sign up for one, two, or all of them if you want! From handing out cookies and purity syrup to guests after the parade to hosting various mummer themed challenges at the pub crawl, we will have an opportunity that appeals to you! Shave for the Brave Mascot

Description: Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC) -  Canada's leading support organization for young adults dealing with cancer is looking for someone who is patient, outgoing and likes to have fun! The position of Mascot will be located in St. John's NL with some travel to surrounding areas. We're looking for someone who is energetic and loves working with kids. You will be a key part of making the Shave for the Brave experience a memorable one. Our offices are located at 18 Argyle Street in St. John's so you will need to be able to at least get to our office however own transportation is an asset. Shaves are typically during the weekdays and usually take about 2 hours. Shaves are generally confirmed 2-3 weeks before. We will also need someone for our St. John's Community Shave on Saturday March 5th at the Avalon Mall. There are height and weight limitations for the costume. You will need to be between 5'5 and 5'10 and fit comfortably in the costume. What's in it for you? You get to volunteer in a high energy and rewarding setting while helping YACC change lives! And you get to be a mascot! Education Assistant

Event Assistant

Description: The Society hosts several large events throughout the year such as our Walk to Fight Arthritis, Charity Challenge, Gala, and Jingle Bell Walk and Run. We are looking for motivated volunteers who would like to assist in planning, promoting and organizing these events. From research to putting up posters, there are so many ways to be involved.  Volunteers are needed to assist in cold calls, solicit and pick up prizes, registration, recruitment, etc.   Assist with our fundraisers or organize your own event!  We’ll support you every step of the way.  Possible fundraisers include bake sale, jean’s day, ticket sales or 50/50 draw, recycling collection, sporting competition and so much more! Host an event with your school peers, coworkers, team, or a group of friends in your community!

Volunteer Advocacy Committee

Organization: The Arthritis Society of Newfoundland and Labrador Division

Description: The committee assists with advocating for The Arthritis Society, their programs, services and events, in support of those living with arthritis in Newfoundland and Labrador. The committee meets on a schedule that works best for everyone and individuals can decide their level of participation.   From brainstorming to helping to acquire donations, there are so many ways you can be a part of our Volunteer Committee.  Activities may include promotions, taking photographs, putting up posters, research, spreading the word on events, etc. This committee is great for anyone looking to go into government relations, communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, education, graphic design, photography and the health care industry. Also ideal for anyone who is looking to increase their communication, or networking skills.
