Marketing Volunteer

Description: Position Marketing Volunteer Region/Location St. John’s Newfoundland   Commitment March 2016 – May 2016 Length of Time Approx. 3 hrs/wk Staff Partner Coordinator of Individual Giving POSITION OVERVIEW The purpose of this role is to develop and implement a marketing plan for the Canadian Diabetes Association’s 2016 Walk for Diabetes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.      Raise awareness and draw participants for the 2016 Walk for Diabetes. a.      Build and execute a plan to utilize the Association’s marketing collateral to encourage registration in the program b.     Create media releases and matter stories to secure earned print and online media for the program c.      Devise and implement a social media strategy across appropriate channels for the audience 2.      Develop and track effectiveness of the marketing efforts including the preparation of a final report 3.      Collaborate with Coordinator of Individual Giving to work within the modest budget to cover all marketing activities 4.      Provide standard updates to staff partner on through regular communication and/or meetings INITIAL IMPACT  The impact of marketing efforts include: 1.     The awareness and participation, by individuals, in the Association’s programs and activities will increase 2.     Raising of funds for the association SUSTAINED OUTCOMES  1.     Increase in community presence for the Association 2.     Increase in community fundraising BENEFITS 1.      Play an integral role by engaging communities into the mission, vision, and values of the CDA 2.      Have a positive impact on the quality enhancement of life for people affected by diabetes 3.      Enhance your portfolio and Resume and gain skills directly related to the field of Marketing and Communications 4.      Showcase your mad marketing skills! Shave for the Brave Mascot

Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC) —  Canada’s leading support organization for young adults dealing with cancer — is looking for someone to “liven up” Razor’s public appearances! This is a great opportunity for university students, shift workers, or those working from home! Most events will be in St. John’s, and there may be some travel to nearby areas. Duties: Attend Shaves for the Brave in the metro region as our mascot to dish out high fives, pose for photos, and keep the energy up Commitments last an average of two to three hours from start to finish, not including travel Shave for the Brave events are organized weeks in advance, and we will work together on a schedule Keep your identity anonymous Qualifications: Energetic, friendly, and comfortable in crowds Responsible and reliable No known health concerns that could conflict with wearing the costume, such as heart trouble, back trouble, pregnancy, overheating, contagious conditions, etc. Between 5’8″ and 6’0″ in height, though there may be some flexibility Access to personal transportation is preferred Certificate of Conduct is required Since he joined the team last year, Razor has become a key player of the Shave Team, and his presence helps make each event a monumentally memorable one for Shavers, Head Hunters, and supporters. As Razor, you get the benefit of knowing you’re helping Shavers feel as special as we feel they are whilst helping young adults deal with cancer in Canada. Description: Role Description Position Event Day Volunteer Location St. John’s NL Department/Team Community Programs and Partnerships Commitment Full Day – May 29th 2016   Length of Time 1 Day Event   Staff Partners Coordinator , Community Engagement POSITION OVERVIEW   The purpose of the Event Day volunteers is to make sure the flow of event runs smoothly by helping with set up and take down; other duties will be directed by volunteer coordinator prior to event. East Coast Trail Maintenance Hike Volunteer

Description: The East Coast Trail Association is seeking energetic volunteers for maintenance hikes along our trails. This volunteer position will include weekend outings for vegetation control. If you like hiking, want to get outdoors on the Trail and if you like the idea of trail maintenance, then this may be the position for you! Volunteers can register for one or many maintenance hikes! Volunteers can assist in a variety of activities such as trimming, brush cutting, trash pick up, slash removal, fire pit remediation and water bar clearing. The East Coast Trail is a wilderness hiking trail that showcases the rugged natural beauty and cultural heritage along the eastern edge of the Avalon Peninsula. This volunteer role will greatly assist the East Coast Trail Association allowing public access o the trail, keeping it open, free and available to all.
