Canadian Mental Health Association-Newfoundland and Labrador (CMHA-NL), is a provincial division of CMHA—the nationwide leader and champion for mental health. Our mission is to facilitate access to the resources people require to maintain and improve mental health and community integration, build resilience, and support recovery from mental illness. CMHA-NL’s provincial head office is located in St. John’s with regional offices located in Grand Falls-Windsor (Central) and Stephenville (Western).
As a not-for-profit organization, we rely on the essential contributions of our members, volunteers, monthly donors, sponsors, and community partners to continue to grow our services and programs across Newfoundland and Labrador.

<h3>WHAT WE DO</h3>

<li>CMHA-NL <a href="https://cmhanl.ca/what-we-do/workplace-mental-health-program/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Workplace Mental Health Program</strong></a> and our <a href="https://cmhanl.ca/what-we-do/upcoming-training-workshops/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Education Program</strong></a> offer mental health training and educational sessions for individuals, workplaces, schools, and other groups. From two-day certification courses to lunch-and-learns, our qualified facilitators can customize sessions to meet your needs. We also meet requests for information booths at conferences, schools, and other events.</li>

<li>Our <a href="https://cmhanl.ca/what-we-do/justice-program/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Justice Program</strong></a> Case Managers work with individuals involved in the NL corrections system to promote recovery and reduce recidivism. Our team assists members of the Justice Program with a variety of needs, including housing, food security, employment, counseling, and more. Case Managers work with members while incarcerated and following their release for a period of up to 18 months.</li>

<li>CMHA-NL’s <a href="https://cmhanl.ca/what-we-do/at-work-program/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>At Work Program</strong></a> provides employment support for people living with a mental health issue or mental illness who are unemployed or under-employed and are seeking meaningful employment. The At Work Program also provides wage subsidies for employers. The Employment Support Coordinator works with employers and employees to ensure a smooth transition to work.</li>

Founded in 1918, the CNIB Foundation is a non-profit organization driven to change what it is to be blind today. We deliver innovative programs and powerful advocacy that empower people impacted by blindness to live their dreams and tear down barriers to inclusion. Our work as a blind foundation is powered by a network of volunteers, donors and partners from coast to coast to coast.
We are the largest humanitarian organization in the world! For over 100 years, the Canadian Red Cross Society has been a highly trusted and respected organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable populations in Canada and around the world. In Atlantic Canada, our organization provides assistance through Community Health and Wellness, Emergency (Disaster) Management, and Injury Prevention programs including First Aid. All Canadian Red Cross programs are guided by 7 fundamental principles; Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. The Community Health and Wellness programs in Newfoundland and Labrador aim to improve the health outcomes of the most vulnerable through community based actions, for example Meals on Wheels and our Health Equipment Loam Program.
The Chalker Place Neighborhood Centre is a volunteer-run community organization affiliated with Vibrant Communities and Newfoundland and Labrador Housing. The purpose of the organization is to enhance the lives of families living in social housing in the community through the organization and delivery of programs and activities for community residents
Challenger Baseball is an adaptive baseball program designed to empower children and youth living with cognitive and/or physical disabilities. The program teaches children and youth the core life skills inherent to baseball, including: teamwork, communication, determination, resiliency, inclusion, support and courage. Challenger Baseball ensures every participant has the opportunity to play in a fun and safe environment where they learn to become more independent, build confidence and self-esteem, improve their communication skills, and set and achieve their own personal goals.
ClimaFacts Atlantic is committed to enhancing public knowledge on environmental climate change issues among Atlantic Canadians by providing an accessible resource about scientific climate research, promoting informed discussions and positive change.
ClimateScience aims to empower people to make real long-term solutions to climate change actionable through climate education. We hope our way of covering solutions makes people excited to contribute to clean energy, sustainable agriculture, and other global-scale sustainability issues – beyond reusing their plastic bags. We believe education is the most powerful tool in the fight against climate change.
Community Volunteers Wanted! Become a CVITP Volunteer!
Volunteers are needed to help file simple income tax returns for eligible people in your community, on behalf of the Canada Revenue Agency’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP).
If you have a basic understanding of income tax and are interested in helping out your community, come Lend a Hand! The CRA will support you by providing training and free tax preparation software. The registration period to become a volunteer is from October through February.
As a volunteer with the CVITP you will give back to your community by helping individuals receive their benefits and credits. You will increase your personal tax knowledge, gain new skills and improving existing ones, all while doing work that is valued and recognized.

Connections for Seniors is a non-profit organization located in St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador.
We provide emergency accommodations and services to adults 55 years of age and older.
Our goal is to promote dignity and self-efficacy while helping seniors navigate complex systems linked to health, housing, legal and financial matters that ultimately impact quality of life.
Our emergency accommodations and main office are located in a residential area. We provide individual rooms equipped with televisions. We have on-site laundry, as well as access to telephone and internet.
We offer acute, crisis-based counselling support as well as nursing services.
We provide transportation related to health and housing needs.
We pick up clients from their desired location within the St. John's Metro area with the hope that they will feel welcome and supported.
